Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Online Compass (“we”, “us”) handles information when you use https://onlinecompassapp.com. In short: the compass itself sends us nothing. The only data practices to be aware of relate to cookies, advertising and basic analytics, described below.

Information we do not collect

We do not require an account and do not ask for your name, email or any personal details to use the compass. Your device orientation, heading and geolocation are processed entirely in your browser and are never transmitted to, received by, or stored on our servers. When you tap “True north”, your coordinates are used only on your device to compute magnetic declination and are then discarded when you leave the page.

Cookies and local storage

We store a single preference, your light/dark theme choice, in your browser’s local storage. It never leaves your device. Third parties described below may set their own cookies.

Advertising

The site includes the Google AdSense integration. Whether ads are served depends on account approval, availability and applicable consent settings. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand page views and website usage. Its requests can include the page URL, referrer, browser and device information, and identifiers; it may set analytics cookies. Google processes network information to provide this service. We do not send compass headings or precise geolocation coordinates in analytics events. See Google’s information about partner sites.

Hosting and Cloudflare analytics

Cloudflare serves the site and may process IP addresses, request details and browser information for delivery and security. The production site also uses the Cloudflare Web Analytics beacon for website performance and usage information. This is separate from the compass sensor calculations. Your choices and rights

You can clear cookies and local storage in your browser and decline location or motion permissions. Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning personal information processed through this site. Email us with privacy requests; advertising, analytics and hosting providers may also offer their own privacy controls. If you email us, we receive your email address and the information in your message to respond to your request.

Children

Online Compass is a general-audience tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
